During a little self-initiated residency in Landers (California) I have been mapping a little portion of the territory around the house using my feet, legs and body as measurement tools to then convert the collected information into an embroidered map where each stitch correspond to a specific measure.
The map underlines the contrast between the very pragmatic and sterile attempt of dividing land and properties by humans and the impossibility of taming natural land shapers, like in this case, the water streams created by heavy and sudden rains that often hit this area.
